ViaCity used in evaluating bicycle network improvements in Provo, Utah

The Bicycle Committee for the City of Provo, Utah, is looking at various routes to add bicycle facilities (bike lanes, etc.) along key transportation corridors within the City. The decision on which specific streets to locate these facilities is often based on anecdotal evidence or subjective metrics. Students from Brigham Young University, Bryan Wilson and Clancy Black, used ViaCity to evaluate these corridors using more quantitative methods. Their report showed that some route scored better than others at providing quality connections to bicyclists. The Bicycle Committee will use this information when finalizing their recommendations to the City.
