ViaCity Analysis Workshop
Get a jumpstart on your connectivity analysis projects, and learn more about ViaCity analysis techniques and software. This on-site session with a ViaCity expert provides your planning team with a deep understanding of how ViaCity solutions apply to several of your specific projects.
- Onsite one-day session for up to 5 people
- Includes preliminary analysis of up to 3 custom cases using your GIS data, plus discussion of analysis results and techniques
- Led by a ViaCity Solutions Specialist and professional transportation planner or engineer
- A customizable topic framework will use your projects and data to cover introductory concepts, best practices, and advanced techniques. Your topics may include:
- Introduction to connectivity analysis, RDI, and basic ViaCity features using small-area examples
- Starting a ViaCity project from scratch – data requirements and preparation
- Using baseline RDI scores to show relative connectivity and identify hot spots for improvements
- Discussion of results and techniques in your relevant example cases such as transit access, bike and pedestrian routes, street planning, emergency planning, routes to school, or other projects
- Factoring route impedances
- Area plan development
- Prioritizing projects with RDI scores, using RDI for performance benchmarks
- Using ViaCity in cost-benefit analysis
- Factoring land use, land density, demographics, land value, and other data into connectivity analysis
- Presenting RDI maps and data
Prerequisites: Participants should be familiar with ESRI GIS software. Workshops require setup discussion of case study project goals, onsite facilities, and online tools, plus transfer of project data to Transpo for preparing preliminary analysis and workshop materials. Data may include parcel and centerline data, scans, estimates, and other additional information.
